Hey leaders, do you have a colleague who is awesome at what they do?
Try this today:
Tell them you think they’re awesome. Tell them why. Tell them you appreciate them.
And do it face-to-face, even if that means over Zoom. Not email. Not text.
Will it feel awkward? Possibly.
Will it be the highlight of their day, and yours? Most definitely.
We don’t share our appreciation for others often enough in this short life we have. We think they know, or that our positive feedback won’t matter. Chances are they don’t know how much you appreciate them. And it will matter.
And this is something we all should practice, not just leaders. For leaders, it has the bonus of building cross-organizational relationships that inspire collaboration.
